Life Cycle Engineering recently announced James R. “Jim” Fei as the 2015 ACEC-SC Service to the Profession recipient.
Leawood Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 4.
Long-time Blue Valley Recreation Commission facilities manager, Jim Hook, recently earned the Kansas Recreation and Park Association's Distinguished Service Award. Hook has dedicated 32 years of service ensuring Blue Valley Recreation's facilities are safe, attractive and efficient.
Hook has led every capital project Blue Valley Rec has undertaken – from concept design to construction and project management. He managed the construction of 10 sports fields with restroom, concession, playgrounds, and maintenance buildings at the Sports Complex on 137th Street. At the Activity Center on 151st Street, he led the design and construction of the natatorium, locker rooms, and additional classrooms. Jim's most recent project management assignment was the 105,000-square foot Recreation Center on 143rd Street where Hook led several teams in design, construction and facility maintenance operations.
In each project, Hook balanced creativity and innovation with a pragmatic use of space, practical attention to cost savings, water and energy conservation, life cycle endurance, and ease of maintenance.
In addition to capital projects, Hook also oversees the maintenance for all three facilities, the food services operations at the Rec Center and the Sports Complex and technology services for the entire Commission.
"Jim's accomplishments have made a positive impact on enriching lives in our community," commented Blue Valley Recreation Executive Director Steve Baysinger. "As the leader in every Blue Valley Rec major capital improvement, Jim's work will serve many generations to come."
