Leawood Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on March 11.
Michael T. White, shareholder with Rouse Frets White Goss Gentile Rhodes, was recently named the 2019 Baron of the Boardroom by the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association.
The KCMBA Baron of the Boardroom award, established in 2005, recognizes KCMBA members whose business and corporate accomplishments and professional demeanor have resulted in consistent recognition by their peers as exemplary.
Mike is a former Jackson County Executive, and operates with extensive experience and a comprehensive knowledge of land use law, including real estate development, economic development incentives, tax increment financing, land use entitlements, zoning, and redevelopment.
Mike is principally responsible for two landmark cases before the Missouri Supreme Court: establishing the constitutionality of the State’s Tax Increment Financing Act and the first case interpreting the tax lid “Hancock Amendment” of the Missouri Constitution. He is the author of Missouri Land Use Law and Missouri Economic Development Law, both published by the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. Mike is a Kansas City Business Journal Best of the Bar recipient; Super Lawyer in Kansas and Missouri; has received the highest attorney rating from Martindale-Hubbell; is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA; and is a Richard King Award Recipient, 2010 Missouri Economic Development Finance Association.
Mike will be recognized at the KCMBA’s 46th Bench-Bar & Boardroom Conference, May 15-17, at Chateau on the Lake Resort Spa & Convention Center in Branson, Missouri.
