LEAWOOD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Leawood Rotarians Plant Trees in Ironwoods Park

Leawood Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 8.

Leawood Chamber President, Kevin Jeffries, joined Mayor Dunn and members of the Leawood Rotary Club for a tree planting ceremony on Saturday, May 4, at Ironwoods Park.

This three-year 60 tree planting project grew out of a challenge issued by the President of Rotary International to Rotarians around the world to plant one new tree for each of Rotary’s over 1 million members worldwide.

Leawood Rotary’s membership accepted this challenge, and after consulting with the Leawood Parks and Recreation Department, made plans for a tree grove at Ironwoods Park. After consulting with the City’s tree expert, Dustin Branick, it was decided to plant a variety of trees. Two Sugar Maple trees were planted on Saturday.

Thanks to members of the Leawood Rotary for their on-going efforts to beautify our community.
