Leawood Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 28.
A scenic stretch of Lee Boulevard in north Leawood will be widened this summer to accommodate bike lanes.
The City’s pedestrian and bicycle master plan “Self-Propelled Leawood,” identifies Lee Boulevard as a principal route for cyclists.
The roadway on Lee Boulevard will be widened between 93rd and 103rd streets by two feet and driving lanes narrowed slightly to accommodate four-foot-wide bike lanes in both directions.
The project is expected to start in June and be completed in November. The City has also collaborated with WaterOne to replace the water main along Lee Boulevard at the same time to minimize additional disruption to the neighborhood and motorists. Lee Boulevard will be closed to through traffic and detoured to State Line Road during construction.
