Approved construction of single-family homes in the Midwest in July falls over same month last year

The total number of single-family homes approved for construction in July 2019 for the United States’ Midwest region was 10,800, compared to 11,000 for July 2018, according to figures released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Unadjusted statistics are gathered from the Census Bureau’s Building Permits Survey and the Survey of Construction.

The surveys provide current national and regional data on the construction of new privately owned housing units authorized by building permits.

The results provide insight on the nation’s current economic activity, and are used by business and industry stakeholders to help gauge supply and demand.
